We have a new addition to the family!

Tim has really wanted to add another dog to the family for awhile. I didn't plan on it being NOW though. Today we were on our way to Pet Smart to buy our dog Balto a new choke chain and to go for a walk in the park. We saw a sign for rabies shots at another pet store so we turned to see if it was today since Balto is due. It wasn't today, but we were near the Dog adoption agency so we stopped in. We took a couple of different dogs out to meet Balto and the 2nd one seemed a good fit. Before we knew it, we were the proud parents of a new dog.

We never got the choke chain and we never made it to the park.

So, without further ado, let me introduce to you Kobe Tikanni Tungett....

You Know You're an Adoptive Parent If...

  1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has ever made you lose sleep.
  2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.
  3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.
  4. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
  5. It drives you crazy when people ask you about your adopted child's "real" parents.
  6. You have ever been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth (2 years!)
  7. You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway knowing where God calls you He will provide.
  8. You have ever taken an airplane ride half way around the world with a child you just met.
  9. You believe God's heart is for adoption.
  10. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacies you could ever leave on this earth.
  11. You know what the word Dossier means and you can actually pronounce it!
  12. You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.
  13. You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have them in your life.

Cooking with Julian

JT was helping me prepare dinner tonight so I decided to film him for a minute or two. When I pointed the camera at him, this little Italian, French, Romanian American cooking host character emerged. Enjoy!

Family Fun Geocaching!

We went out today looking for 10 caches close to home. It was Tim's first time and I think he enjoyed it as much as JT and I do. We really want to hide a cache but we can't do it until we have a handheld GPS unit. I guess it's time to start trying to find a good deal on one. :)

Jacksonville Zoo & Geocaching

Since JT is on Spring Break we decided to go to the Jacksonville Zoo. Mom hasn't been in over 20 years and so much has changed since she had been, we decided to call her up and take her with us. It was a great time for the 3 of us to spend some quality time together.

Before we got to the Zoo, we planned to look for a Geocache. I had heard about Geocaching and thought it would be a great activity for me and JT. It's sort of a treasure hunt game that people play all over the world. I started a blog just to track our Geocache efforts, you can find out more and see photos by clicking here.

It was a little overcast, but turned out to be a nice day. Not too hot and we never got any rain. I planned on getting Mom an electric scooter to use while we were there, but they were all rented out by the time we got there. She's embarrassed to use a wheelchair, but she agreed to do so and I pushed her around. It was good exercise for me! We couldn't go up some of the ramps, like to the Africa loop, but for me it was more about spending time together and getting her outside for a few hours.

JT loved having her with us. We spent about 3 hours there and then headed to a late lunch before taking Mom home. It ended up being a good day for all of us.
